2025 Annual Dinner and Charity Presentations
Bob Beeson reports … This year’s Devon Golf Captains dinner was a most enjoyable evening hosted by the Captain, Bob Beeson, ably assisted by his Vice Captain, Dave Smith, along with the instigators of the night, Graham Heaman and Steve Spicer. Excellent food and wine was backed up with first class service and we were made to feel so welcome back at Sandy Park. Entertainment was provided by Tank Sherman, an old favourite with Devon Golf Captains. He lived up to his reputation for providing a fine night of comedy without offending anybody. Charity presentations
The chosen charities to benefit from the auction at the inaugural dinner at Sandy Park in February 2024 were the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and the RNLI. Captain Jeff Laing and co-organiser Steve Spicer recently visited Eaglescott Airfield , Umberleigh - one of the 2 airfields used by the Devon Air Ambulance - to present a cheque for £1537. Devon Air Ambulance employs 140 staff and 600 volunteers help to raise monies to run 2 helicopters and critical care cars at an annual cost of £10.5 million. Devon Golf Captains’ Inaugural Annual Dinner Friday February 16th at Sandy Park
The inaugural annual Devon Golf Captains Dinner, held at Sandy Park, was very successful in terms of attendance, monies raised for charity and enjoyment for those present. Tickets priced at £50 which provided an excellent meal and four bottles of good wine on each table was acknowledged by all to be excellent value. On top of that a prestigious guest of honour and guest speaker, Rob Baxter OBE Director of Rugby at Exeter Rugby Club, the Chiefs.
