John Mitchell – Winner Andrew Bowl.
Fellow Captains, I am astoundedbut delighted to have wonThe Andrew Bowl at Brian Waggett’s President’s Day. May I take this opportunity to thank Brian, along with his team of volunteers and staff at Stover Golf Club for all their hard work. I know my fellow competitors very much appreciated the opportunity they all gave us to get together, to some degree, and enjoy our golf. Devon Captains golf events are very special so to come out as a winner gives me tremendous pleasure and I look forward to further events.
Finally may I echo the tributes to Roy Smith and Henry Paget for their sterling service over many years, bravo!

PRESIDENTS-DAY-2021results
President’s Day at Stover was a success in many differing ways. Initially, it actually took place, only a few weeks prior it was very much an optimistic wish. Brian Waggett worked very hard to convince all concerned that it was a possibility worth preparing for, how right he was. As was just the day, excellent conditions for golf and it was a surprise to some of us that scores were not higher. However even though the tournament was played from yellow tees 37 points won the day. John Mitchell, long time Stover member, edged out his closest rivals with a better back nine, on count back. The necessary Covid restrictions of course prevented the usual dinner for all following play and the AGM. The AGM took place with just those few remaining late players. The other important element of the day was the retirement of two of Devon Captains’ loyal and dedicated members, Roy Smith and Henry Paget, Secretary and Match Fixture Secretary respectively. Many thanks from us all to these special gentlemen. Both were presented with suitable gifts for their service. Their roles have been filled by Brian Rice and Mike Badcock respctively. So ended a rather unique President’s Day which hopefully next year will be run under ‘normal’ conditions, at Churston May 12th.
