Day two and a return to an oft visited venue Bridgnorth GC, with rumours rife of an eclectic nine hole course being compiled to allow some play, bottom lips were distinctly obvious! Arriving at the course, deep joy a la Stanley Unwin, course fully open and what's more buggies were on, hurrah. Bridgnorth, for those unfamiliar with the course, is particularly challenging with the first two holes steeply sloped, also the eighteenth for those that reached there. Roy Roberts - John Devereux - Brian Rice - Peter Dunstan As is the most recent plan, everyone agreed to travel a day earlier to facilitate more agreeable travelling time for our first match on tour to Shropshire, in this case five minutes to our first venue, Chesterton Valley GC. Such were the weather conditions, and the forecasts, that several players questioned the possibility of any golf at all. Devon Captains v Oxford Captains. Honiton GC June 5th 2019
Driving to Honiton Golf Club we experienced several squally showers, threatening but also very welcome for greenstaff desperate for growth particularly fairways for many courses. Selfishly this was all the rain we received until after most, if not all, had finished playing. There is always a warm welcome from Honiton and today was no different, President of the club Max Pipe willingly standing in for the Captain, away currently on his brother's 'stag do'.
