It was not surprising upon arrival at Thurlestone that our visitors initially spoke of little else than the previous day's soaking at Bigbury. If not dried completely the lovely blue skies overhead, with warm sunshine, would soon complete the job for our guests. Lowering skies overhead of faraway Torbay and a pursuing wind seemed to indicate all would be well at our venue. Our learned Doctor David Grieve pronounced that thunder clouds advanced against the prevailing wind, and so it came to pass. The Tour of Oxfordshire & Warwickshire.
The Tour begins at The Cotswolds In total nine of our "athletes" elected to travel the day prior to the first match at The Cotswolds Golf Hotel, Spa and Golf Club. We all stayed at the venue's hotel to discover an excellent facility in every sense, the bedrooms, food and staff all four star plus. Late into the night tactics, tips and psychological attitudes were investigated and stimulated with a little alcoholic refreshment, in the morning, during an excellent breakfast, amnesia and clouded memories set the order for the day ahead. Mike Badcock's first match took us to the Salisbury & Wilts golf club, incredibly six reserves had to be included from the original team. Please do not make the Captain and Vice Captain's any more difficult than necessary, for the umpteenth time PLEASE inform the Vice Captain Bob Webber if a request you have made is no longer available to you. Commercial over, a bit of a "hike" to Wiltshire was quickly over with Lew (The Stig) Easter transporting Peter Stanley and yours truly in record time, allowing time for sampling of local ale. President’s Day Saunton GC 2016
The Captain celebrates the new President in orange juice ????? (Who is Jeff Laing celebrating) Those who travelled up from the south of the County in driving rain and a strong wind resigned themselves to having to don wet weather gear and battle against the elements with soggy grips and limited visibility.
